Reliable and consistent quality

I've bought from Scott's several times now. My latest order was for a couple of Philodendrons. Just like before, they came in great shape, very well-rooted and robust. Packaging is always top-notch, with heat packs used when needed. Delivery to my area usually takes about 4-5 days, which is reasonable for live plants. Their stock updates are pretty consistent too, always something new to check out.

Great value, healthy plant

This was my first time buying from Scott's Exotic Plants. I was looking for a good deal on an Aglaonema Pictum Tricolor and their price was competitive. The plant arrived in perfect condition, carefully packaged, and it was a decent size for the cost. I signed up for their newsletter for a discount which made it even better. I felt like I got my money's worth and then some.

Anthurium Warocqueanum arrived safely

I purchased an Anthurium Warocqueanum recently. The ordering process was simple enough on their website. It arrived within a week, which was good. The plant was securely packaged with plenty of insulation and a heat pack, as it's winter here. The plant itself was healthy, no yellowing leaves or anything. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about shipping methods. The only minor point was the soil mix felt a bit dense for a 'roid, but I planned to repot it anyway.

Solid plant, good experience

I got a Variegated Monstera from them a little while ago. It was easy to find on the site, and checkout was straightforward. The plant got here in about 5 days, and it was wrapped up really well, no damage at all. It looked just like the picture too. Overall, a pretty good experience. I'd definitely order from them again if I see something I like.

How do Scotts Exotic Plants compare to Logee's or Steve's Leaves? Prices, quality, variety?

M Mike 1 month ago
Scotts definitely leans more into the really rare aroids, like fancy Anthuriums and Aglaonemas. Logee's has a broader range of tropicals, maybe not as many 'collector grade' stuff. Steve's Leaves is good for Hoya and more common aroids, but Scotts often has the harder-to-find varieties.

Quality-wise, I'd say Scotts is on par with the others, usually really healthy plants. Prices can be higher for their super rare stuff, but they have unique selections you won't always find at Logee's. It depends what you're looking for, if it's a specific rare Anthurium, Scotts is probably your best bet.

Is Scotts Exotic Plants actually legit? Like, are these plants real, healthy, and not some scam from overseas?

C Chris M. 1 month ago
Totally legit. I've ordered several times, never had an issue. Plants are always well-rooted and healthy.

They're a real nursery, not some drop shipper. I've seen them mentioned a lot in plant groups, good reputation.

Hey, wondering about a first order discount. I saw something mentioned but didn't catch the details. Is there one and how do I get it?

J James 1 month ago
Yeah, I think if you sign up for their newsletter, they send you a code. It's usually like 10-15% off, pretty standard.

S Steve Reyes 1 month ago
Can confirm, I got a 10% off code after signing up. It pops up as a little banner or something. Just make sure to enter it at checkout, won't apply automatically.

Can I use multiple discount codes? Like a first-time buyer code AND a free shipping one?

D Dan Walsh 1 month ago
Nah, usually only one coupon per order. It says in their FAQ that most can't be combined with other sales or codes.

I tried that once, it wouldn't let me. Pick the best one, they usually stack the free shipping on orders over a certain amount automatically, so you can still use a percentage off code for the plants.

What's the deal with their free shipping? Is there a minimum order to get it?

N Nina 1 month ago
Yeah, it's free shipping on orders over $150. That's usually where I try to hit if I'm buying a few plants.

R Renee 1 month ago
Afaik, it's $150. Pretty standard for plant shops selling more specialized stuff.

Are the pictures on the site actual photos of the plant you're getting, or just examples? For some of the pricier stuff, that makes a big difference.

D Derek Silva 1 month ago
For the really rare, one-of-a-kind plants, I've found the photos are usually of the exact plant. For more common items, it's probably a representative pic.

M Mia M. 1 month ago
Yeah, if it's a super unique variegated plant, they tend to show the actual one. But if it's just a regular pothos or something, it'll be a stock photo of a healthy plant in that size class.

do they include heat packs automatically if it's cold? or do I need to add one to my cart myself?

T Tara 1 month ago
They usually add them if the temps are low in your area. I've never had to add one myself in winter.

L Lisa 1 month ago
I'd double check their shipping policy, but yeah, in my experience, good nurseries usually assess and add them if needed. If you're super worried, you could always put a note in your order or shoot them an email.

Thinking of grabbing an Anthurium Crystallinum. What's their return policy like if it arrives looking sad or damaged?

D David Y. 1 month ago
They have a live arrival guarantee, so if it's trashed when it gets there, they'll usually sort it out. Just take pics immediately.

I had a slightly bruised leaf once and they offered a partial refund or store credit. Their customer service was pretty good about it, as long as you report it quickly after delivery.
